Two Palestinian youths were injured by Israeli army shooting this evening in the Gaza Strip near the Karni crossing point with Israel, hospital sources said.
"The soldiers first fired in the air and then on us," one of the teenagers said. He insisted that no clashes had provoked the shooting.
The other Palestinian suffered serious head injuries.
However, a military spokesman said shooting against the army had been reported on the road between Karni and the Jewish settlement of Netzarim.
Three mortar shells were also fired by Palestinians near the Gush Katif settlement in the Gaza Strip, causing no injuries, a military source said.
Earlier today, Israeli police defused a bomb hidden in a carved-out watermelon and planted in a public bus in Jerusalem.
Police said there would have been carnage if it had exploded when the bus was full of passengers.
The Israeli army also reported that a military position guarding the entrance to the Elon Moreh Jewish settlement in the West Bank had been fired upon but that there were no injuries.
