Hebron - Gunmen armed with automatic weapons wounded two Israeli soldiers yesterday evening near the flash-point West Bank town of Hebron, Israeli police said.

The soldiers were hit by shots from a passing car as they were driving near the settlement of Otniel, south of here, the police said.

They were evacuated to the Sorka Hospital in Beersheba, where one was said to be "seriously" hurt and the other only slightly.
