Two fishing vessels have been escorted into Castletownbere, Co Cork, after their detention by the Naval Service

Two fishing vessels have been escorted into Castletownbere, Co Cork, after their detention by the Naval Service. The vessels, a French-registered Spanish craft and an Irish-registered boat, were both detained by the LE Orla under the command of Lieut Cmdr Adrian Sheedy for alleged logbook and other technical offences. The French-registered Spanish vessel, Sylvana, was apprehended 60 miles south-west of the Bull Rock, while the Irish vessel, Atlantic Mariner, was detained 30 miles south-west of the Skelligs on Tuesday night.

This brings to 13 the number of fishing vessels detained so far this year.
