DUBLIN - The leader of the East Timorese, resistance in exile, Mr Jose Ramos Horta, will, today meet the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ms Joan Burton, David Shanks writes.
The brief Dublin visit of Mr Horta, who demands a referendum among East Timorese on the former Portuguese colonies, status, follows a statement by the Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, that Ireland intends to use its EU Presidency to help facilitate a solution to the East Timor problem. The territory's, 1976 integration into Indonesia has never been accepted by the United Nations.
