Hooker Steve Thompson and outhalf Charlie Hodgson have been ruled out of the England team for Saturday's celebration match against the New Zealand Barbarians.

Thompson, one of five World Cup winners named in the starting XV by coach Clive Woodward, sprained an ankle during practice and Hodgson has a knee injury.

Thompson will be replaced by Mark Regan and Hodgson's position on the replacements bench goes to the versatile Ben Gollings.

Wings Jason Robinson and Ben Cohen, flanker Richard Hill and prop Trevor Woodman are now the only players starting the match at Twickenham who began last month's World Cup final victory over Australia.
