Blackburn manager Graeme Souness has been fined £10,000 by the Football Association following an altercation with a match official last season.

Souness faced a disciplinary hearing at Bolton Wanderers' Reebok Stadium today where he admitted "improper conduct" during the League Cup quarter-final against Wigan at Ewood Park on December 17th.

Souness, who was fined £5,000 pounds and given a touchline ban for similar offences earlier in the season, was sent to the stands after arguing with the fourth official during the game.

The former Liverpool and Scotland midfielder was today ordered to pay the costs of the hearing and warned him about his future conduct.

However, taking into account the length of time it had taken for the case to be concluded and Souness's admission of the charge, the commission "did not feel it was appropriate to impose a touchline ban on this occasion".
