Smurfit sells US subsidiary for $23 million

Irish packaging firm Jefferson Smurfit announced today it has sold one of its US subsidiaries for $23 million.

Sequoia Voting Systems, a leading provider of touch screen voting systems in the US has been sold to De La Rue PLC. Smurfit may receive further payments up to $12 million based on Sequoia's performance over the next three years.

De La Rue is a world leader in developing secure identity solutions for governments and secure cash management technologies. De La Rue also produces one in five of all the world's banknotes.
