A school boy was killed after he was knocked down riding his bike, it emerged today.

A school boy was killed after he was knocked down riding his bike, it emerged today.

The 11-year-old was struck by a vehicle on the R512 Ardpatrick Road, out of Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, yesterday shortly after 6pm.

Gardaí said he died at the scene.

His body was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post mortem examination will take place later today.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
