Retailer Next boosts pretax profits by £22m

The fashion chain is reporting signs that its second-half will continue the trend.

Comparable sales in its shops, Next retail, are up 5.7 per cent in the first six weeks of the second half, and Next Directory sales - its home shopping arm - are up 26.7 per cent.

The interim dividend is 10p, up from 9p last year.
