Dublin - "I'm here for the children. Anyone who has children would understand that." Ms Jo Kennedy from Dublin was explaining her presence outside the US Embassy yesterday afternoon at the protest organised by Trocaire and AFri (Action From Ireland), at continuing UN sanctions against Iraq, reports Kitty Holland.

She was among about 100 people, including members of the Iraqi community, who had gathered to pray and reflect on injustices throughout the world, but particularly the UN sanctions, in a Good Friday procession the organisers called "Crucifixion by Sanctions". After handing in a St Brigid's Cross as a token of peace, the protesters moved on to the nearby British Embassy, with one man carrying a large cross.
