Aer Rianta has welcomed two new private bus services which will begin operating at Dublin Airport from September.

The Dublin-based company Aircoach is expected to operate a service between Mullingar in Co Westmeath and the airport, serving Kinnegad, Kilcock, Leixlip and Maynooth along the way.

The second service will be operated by Crosson Transport Group in Dublin which Aer Rianta said will provide a regular shuttle bus between the airport and Howth Junction DART station.

Aer Rianta also announced the creation of a new economy car park at the airport with space for around 2,500 vehicles, bringing the number of spaces available there to almost 20,000. A spokesman said the new park would be accessible only over the next four to six weeks to help cope with the annual increase in passenger traffic during the peak holiday period.

Located just off the M50 motorway, the park is designed for long-term parking and is cheaper - £10 a week - because it is further away from the airport. A shuttle bus will operate every 15 minutes taking passengers and their luggage directly to check-in areas.
