State still owed £10.5m by UN

IRELAND is still owed £10

IRELAND is still owed £10.5 million for participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions, the House was told in a written reply. The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Spring, said £3.76 million had been received in the last six months. He had expressed concern to the UN Secretary General that full payment be made speedily. It was not possible to say when this would be done, but it was hoped that efforts under way to resolve the UN's financial crisis would lead to an early clearing of the deficit.
