Mr Charles Flanagan (FG, LaoisOffaly) has called for a Department of Education inquiry into how a recently convicted child abuser from the midlands was allowed remain a teacher for several years after allegations were made against him. A victim said he reported the matter in writing to the Department in 1982 but "it appears that no action was taken and the teacher against whom the allegations were made continued to teach until 1988," said Mr Flanagan.
