Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia expects fourth-quarter sales and profits to meet targets.

The company today predicted a net sales growth over the next quarter of around 20 per cent. But Nokia Networks sales are expected to be down 20 per cent year-on-year.

Nokia Mobile Phones sales for the fourth quarter are set to rise by 25 per cent, compared with the previous quarter.

Nokia says the mobile phone market has developed according to company expectations, with fourth quarter volumes expected to reach between 105 million and 110 million units.

Growth is expected to be highest in the Americas and Europe. Nokia says the pricing environment for mobile phones is more stable. It continues to expect significant market share gains in its mobile handset business this quarter.

The company says a strong start for the Nokia 8310, and brisk sales in the US, have made an important contribution. It made no comment about its prospects for next year.
