Nine cases of suicide are known to have occurred among psychiatric patients last year. Four in-patients took their lives, three were absent without leave and two were on authorised leave. There were also nine sudden deaths which were not suicide and not attributable to natural causes.

One death resulted from injuries while the patient was being restrained and is the subject of an ongoing investigation.
