Roads are very icy in parts of Ulster and Connaught, with snow and slushy conditions in parts of Munster, according to AA Roadwatch.

In Kerry, Conor Pass near Dingle remains closed due to snow and ice.

Motorists are advised to continue to take care on the M6 Dublin/Galway Road at Loughrea due to icy conditions., following a number of collisions last night.

Gardaí are also advising against travel in the Wicklow Mountains.

The N7/Naas Road inbound is closed at Newlands Cross and is expected to be closed for a number of hours following a serious crash.

Meanwhile, the M1 is closed both ways between Newry and Jonesborough for a security operation. Traffic is being diverted onto the Old N1.

Very long delays are being reported for northbound traffic on the diversionary route.
