Moscow - Russian experts restarted the main computer and engines on the Mir space station yesterday and hoped the repairs would allow the United States to start its last shuttle mission to the station on schedule.
The computer, which controls the station's alignment, failed on Saturday, setting Mir adrift in orbit.
A Mission Control spokesman said Mir was aligned with the sun, which is vital for its solar panels to soak up energy, although the station's gyrodines - which help keep it facing the sun - had not unfolded.
