Chief executive of the Medical Council John Lamont is to retire, it was announced yesterday

Chief executive of the Medical Council John Lamont is to retire, it was announced yesterday. A statement noted he was leaving to pursue other interests.

He joined the council in 2004 and has overseen changes in the organisation including the introduction of a new Medical Practitioners Act, the appointment of a new council, an expansion in the council’s range of services and a move to new premises.

Mr Lamont has worked in the public sector for over 30 years.
