A Dublin man yesterday pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his wife in Finglas two years ago. In the Central Criminal Court Michael McKinney (60) pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his wife, Maura McKinney, at their home in Rathvilly Park, on August 5th-6th, 1996. Mrs McKinney died from acid burns.

Mr McKinney was in court to face the charge of murder of his wife. Accompanied by his barrister, Mr Patrick MacEntee SC, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and Mr Hugh Harnett SC, for the Director of Public Prosecutions, had no objection to the plea.

Mr Justice Carney ordered probation and welfare reports prepared on the case and put back sentencing to December 18th.
