Manchester United closed the gap on their Premiership title rivals with a 4-0 drubbing of Aston Villa at Old Trafford this afternoon.

Ruud van Nistelrooy and Diego Forlan both scored twice to move United within one point of Arsenal and two points behind leaders Chelsea.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal were held to one all draws at Leeds and Leicester respectively.

A Damien Duff equaliser kept Chelsea top after Jermaine Pennant opened the scoring for Leeds, while Arsenal were pegged back by a 90th minute Craig Hignett goal after Gilberto Silva gave them the advantage.

Robbie Keane grabbed a hat-trick as Tottenham demolished Wolves 5-2 at White Hart Lane. Birmingham were also on the wrong end of a hiding as Blackburn beat them 4-0 at St Andrew's.

Elsewhere, Fulham fought back from a goal down to beat Bolton 2-1. Sean Davis and Facundo Sava scored after Kevin Davies gave Bolton the lead. Middlesbrough and Portsmouth played out a scoreless draw.
