Man in court over Kilkenny burglary

A man has appeared in court in connection with the theft of stainless steel and copper wire in Co Kilkenny yesterday.

A man has appeared in court in connection with the theft of stainless steel and copper wire in Co Kilkenny yesterday.

Patrick McInerney (26), of the Heath, Portlaoise, appeared before Carlow District Court charged with the theft of metal valued at €4,000 at Ballyragget early yesterday morning.

Mr McInerney was arrested at 3.30am close to the Glanbia plant at Ballycondra, the court heard. He was later charged with stealing metal products belonging to Dunreidy Engineering.

The court was told he had nothing to say when charged.

Gardaí objected to an application for bail, but Judge Patrick Clyne granted bail subject to conditions.

Mr McInerney was remanded to appear before Carlow District Court on June 13th.
