A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a bomb attack in Lurgan last month.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a bomb attack in Lurgan last month.

Officers from the PSNI serious crime branch arrested the man following a “proactive search” in Craigavon, Co Armagh, this morning.

Three children were injured when a device exploded in a wheelie bin near a school on August 14th after a misleading warning was telephoned to the Samaritans.

The children, two 12-year-olds and another aged two, suffered cuts and shock.

The bomb went off as police officers investigated reports that another device had been planted in the vicinity of a primary school.

PSNI Chief Insp Sam Cordner said the children had had a remarkable escape, and that the bombers had no regard for human life.
