Murder squad detectives in the North are tonight questioning a man over the discovery of a body in Co Tyrone this morning.

The victim, a man in his late 20s or early 30s, was found dead in the village of Caledon near Dungannon.

Speculation in the area suggested he may have been beaten up elsewhere and dumped. As detectives issued an appeal in a bid to identify the victim, police confirmed the inquiry was now being treated as murder.

The body was found beside a walkway near the Blackwater Riverat around 7.45 a.m. Police officers carried out door-to-door inquiries in a bid to gather clues over the attack.
