A 31-year-old man was charged yesterday with the murder of a Belfast man in Waterford city on Monday.

A 31-year-old man was charged yesterday with the murder of a Belfast man in Waterford city on Monday.

Mr Isuf Kryzi, an Albanian Kosovar with an address at Manor Street, Waterford, was remanded in custody by Judge Terence Finn at a special sitting of Clonmel District Court.

He was charged with the murder of Mr Thomas McAuley (44), Farringdon Court, Ardoyne, Belfast, at Manor Street, Waterford, on August 13th.

Garda Edmund Flynn of Waterford station told the court that Mr Kryzi, in reply to the charge, said: "I did not go there with the intention to kill him. I didn't want to kill him, but I was told that he had died."
