Gardai in Dundalk believe they prevented a potential outbreak of violence between two families when they intercepted a car loaded with gardening implements and knives. One man was arrested and charged in relation to the weapons and is due in the local district court tomorrow. A Garda spokesman said there had been a series of alleged incidents involving the two families in the town had been alerted to the possibility that the feud could result in violence. On Saturday gardai stopped a car carrying two men from one family and recovered pick-axe handles, knives, spades, baseball bats and a slash hook.
