A 41-year-old man has been granted bail after he was charged in connection with a non-fatal shooting of a man in Blanchardstown, Dublin, on Wednesday.

A 25-year-old male was hospitalised after he was shot in the face in the Whitestown Park area.

Patrick Fortune, Whitestown Park, Blanchardstown, was charged yesterday with assault causing harm to Shane Williams and unlawful possession of a sawn-off shotgun in relation to the incident. Mr Fortune was ordered to sign on at Blanchardstown Garda station daily, stay away from Whitestown Avenue, and to surrender his passport.

Bail in his own bond of €1,000 with an independent surety of €1,000 was set and he was remanded to appear in court on March 30th.
