Limerick man badly beaten

A Co Limerick man was badly beaten with a wheel jack when he was attacked by a gang early yesterday.

A Co Limerick man was badly beaten with a wheel jack when he was attacked by a gang early yesterday.

The man, in his 30s and from Castleconnell, was getting into his car at Parkway Shopping Centre, Castletroy, in the suburbs of Limerick, when the attack occurred at about 4 a.m. Two or three men approached him and beat him around the head and arms with the jack. They stole his wallet containing credit cards and cash and escaped in his car.

The victim made his way to a petrol station on the Dublin Road, where the alarm was raised. He is recovering in hospital.

A man is understood to be helping gardai with inquiries.
