Leeds United expect a final answer from Lee Bowyer by Saturday on whether the transfer-listed midfielder will pay a club fine, the club said today.

Bowyer, cleared of assault charges last week following an attack on a student in January 2000, will be up for selection on Saturday against league leaders Newcastle United if he accepts the fine of four weeks' wages, manager David O'Leary said.

The fine was handed out because Bowyer had been found to be under the influence of alcohol on the night of the attack.

Team mate Jonathan Woodgate, who was sentenced to 100 hours of community service after being convicted of affray, could also be in the squad to face Newcastle, the club said.
