A Japanese man who knocked down three women to relieve stress has been jailed for 11 years.

A Japanese man who knocked down three women to relieve stress has been jailed for 11 years.

Junji Ogawa was convicted in the Yokohama District Court of attempting to murder the three women.

He mowed them down with his truck in a 20-minute rampage last year.

Presiding Judge Ryoichi Tanaka ruled Ogawa, who was frustrated at work, had assaulted the women with his employer's truck to get his boss into trouble and "relieve stress".

Ogawa, a 21-year-old painter from Yokohama, rammed his truck into a 20-year-old student then, about eight minutes later, he knocked down a 26-year-old woman 700 metres away. Both women suffered minor injuries in the incidents, the court heard.

Twenty minutes after the first incident, Ogawa mowed down a 25-year-old woman who suffered serious brain damage and has been impaired physically for life.
