The theme for this year’s Open House Dublin weekend, when many buildings are open to the public, is “The Presence of the Past”. Presented annually by the Irish Architecture Foundation, it takes place from October 14th-16th.
Highlights confirmed for this year’s programme include the Military Archives at Cathal Brugha Barracks (pictured) which were renovated as part of Ireland 2016 by McCullough Mulvin Architects and now accommodates some of the most significant documents from the Easter Rising.
Also open will be Airbnb’s new international hub at Hanover Quay, a once-derelict waterside warehouse restored by RKD Architects.
Open House Dublin will feature Making Ireland Modern, Ireland's exhibition at the 2014 Venice Architectural Biennale, which is currently on tour in Ireland as part of ART: 2016, the Arts Council's programme for Ireland 2016.
