Washington - The US Attorney General, Ms Janet Reno, announced plans yesterday for an independent investigation of the 1993 raid by the FBI on the headquarters of a religious sect in Waco, Texas, which left 80 people dead. She said she would shortly be naming "an outside investigator that can get to the truth".
The news came a day after the release of an FBI videotape on which an agent can be heard obtaining approval from his supervisor to fire flammable tear-gas canisters.
