HMV staff in Limerick say they are determined to continue their sit-in at two outlets, writes Kathryn Hayes. About 30 workers have occupied the HMV stores on Cruises Street and the Crescent Shopping Centre in an attempt to get wages owed to them.
Limerick staff refused to give the company back keys to the outlets after learning they would not be paid, when it was announced that 16 HMV stores were to close in the Republic.
The Irish arm of the firm is in receivership and staff have not been paid since December 21st last.
Minister of State Jan O’Sullivan said HMV had a debt of honour to its workforce.

Earlier this week a spokesman for the receiver said they were talking with staff around the country and “examining options to facilitate payment”.
