Unused and out-of-date medicines can be handed into over 200 pharmacies in Cork and Kerry between now and March 12th as part of a campaign to dispose of them properly. The scheme which aims to prevent accidental poisoning, overdosing and environmental damage due to disposal of leftover prescription and over-the-counter drugs in household rubbish. An eight-week course in the meditative practice of mindfulness for people with chronic pain or illness begins in Oscailt, 8 Pembroke Road, Dublin 4, on February 16th. The course is based on Breathworks techniques developed by Vidyamala Burch in response to her experience of chronic pain. The course runs for eight Tuesday evenings from 6pm-8.15pm. Cost €350. Anyone over 18 living with arthritis or another musculo-skeletal disorder can participate.
