Police investigating the discovery of a woman's severed head and a hand on a Scottish beach said today said they had recovered a second hand.
The find was first made by two young sisters playing on the foreshore at Arbroath yesteday. The head had been concealed in a plastic bag and the first hand was found shortly after by police.
A wider search of the area will continue today.
The sisters were playing during their Easter school holidays when they discovered the head. Neighbours said they heard their screams before they rushed home and told their mother who contacted the police.
Tayside Police said the dead woman did not match anyone reported missing in its area. "This investigation is in its infancy and it will take several days before we have forensic test results that could shed further light on the enquiry," said Detective Chief Inspector Graham McMillan.
A postmortem on the body parts will be conducted later.
