Calais - Up to 50 Eastern Europe gypsies have set up camp in the French port of Calais, apparently refusing to give up hope of being admitted to Britain, it emerged yesterday.
It is thought the gypsies were among more than 100 Czechs and Slovaks deported from Dover in recent days. A spokesman for the Calais port authorities said: "There has been a small encampment for a number of days, but there are now about 50 people."
