Gardai in Cork were yesterday investigating an attempted robbery at a shop in Churchfield in which a lone robber held up a female shop assistant at gunpoint.
The attempt happened at around 8.10 p.m. on Tuesday at a shop on Knockfree Avenue. The man fled empty-handed when the woman refused to hand over cash and shouted for help.
