Late last night a British army bomb disposal unit was dealing with what was believed to be a grenade, which was thrown at people leaving the Greystone Catholic Church in Antrim town earlier in the evening.

The device did not explode and it appears the people leaving the church did not know anything had been thrown at them. An anonymous caller rang the BBC in Belfast at about 11 p.m. last night and said a grenade had been thrown.

There have been at least four attacks on Catholic-owned homes and property in the past month by a loyalist group calling itself the Orange Volunteers.
