Internet entrepreneur Brad Greenspan said yesterday he has gained the support of five investor groups interested in buying a stake in and investing in Dow Jones to thwart News Corp Chairman Rupert Murdoch's $5 billion buyout offer.

A source familiar with the matter said the five possible investors are Intel Corp's, Intel Capital, Apex Partners, Jana Partners, a unit of Softbank Corp and Trafelet.

Former Dow Jones board member Dieter von Holtzbrinck, who resigned from the board in protest of Murdoch's bid, could also be interested in investing in Greenspan's offer, the source said.

Their participation hinges on whether or not Dow Jones is willing to meet to discuss Greenspan's proposal.
