Gardaí are today continuing the search for the former boyfriend of a 19-year-old girl found dead in a flat.

A spokesman said this morning the search was just one of a number of leads the gardaí are following.

Ms Lorraine O'Connor was found in a bedroom in the Co Clare apartment yesterday after she had been missing for several days.

It is understood she had been strangled and there were a number of marks on the body.

Members of her family, who own a pub in her home town of Ennis, were told she was planning to travel to England with her ex-boyfriend but she never made the journey.

Gardaí are investigating the significance of finding the family car, a Toyota Carina, which had been lent to a family acquaintance, parked at Cork airport.

The flat at Fergus Row, Ennis, was immediately sealed off by gardaí after the discovery yesterday.

The body was taken for a post-mortem, as yet uncompleted, at Ennis General Hospital.
