Two men and a woman were last night assisting gardaí with their investigation into the stabbing of a 30-year-old man at a house on Kerry Hall Road in Fairhill on Cork’s northside at about 2.30pm yesterday.
Gardaí believe the man suffered a serious stab wound to the chest during a row in the house. He managed to make his way out to the road where he was found lying in a pool of blood by a passerby who then raised the alarm.
The emergency services were called and he was rushed to Cork University Hospital where he underwent surgery but it is understood he remains in a critical condition in the intensive care unit.
The injured man had been living in Ballincollig in Co Cork but family members were last night travelling from Co Wexford to be with him.
The three people assisting gardaí with their inquiries were at different stations: a man in his 40s was at Gurranebraher Garda station, a man in his 20s was at Mayfield Garda station and the woman was at Bridewell Garda station.
