A Franciscan brother sexually assaulted boys in two religious homes in Dublin and at an address in Galway, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard yesterday.

Joseph Keegan (57) with addresses at Merchant's Quay, Dublin, and Via Degli, Artisti, Rome, pleaded guilty to six counts, dating from 1977 to 1982, of gross indecency and three counts of indecent assault of five boys.

They include an act of gross indecency at the Presbytery, Bog Road, Bray, as well as gross indecency and indecent assault at the Franciscan Order's friary, Merchant's Quay, Dublin. Keegan also committed an indecent assault in Salthill, Galway, in 1982.

Judge Cyril Kelly ordered victim impact reports on the injured parties, who cannot be named for legal reasons. The case was adjourned for sentence until April 22nd, 1999.
