Three people died after road accidents in Dublin, Co Westmeath and Derry yesterday, and a 14-year-old boy died after a fall from a minibus in Co Mayo. A 17-year-old who was injured in a crash in Co Clare on Monday also died yesterday.

In west Dublin, a man aged 25 died when his car hit a pole on the M50 motorway near the Ballymount sliproad outside Clondalkin at about 8.40 p.m. A Garda spokesman said rainfall at the time would have been a contributory factor.

In Co Westmeath, an Athlone woman in her 70s died when her car collided with a car on the main road from Ballymahon, Co Longford, to Mullingar. The accident happened at about 4 p.m. at Farthingstown, Rathconrad.

Four men who were in the other car were said to be in a stable condition at Mullingar General Hospital.

Michael Patrick McGinty of Springvale, Achill, Co Mayo, died in Mayo General Hospital after he fell from a minibus at Achill Sound yesterday afternoon. Stephen Cullinane, of Clarehill, Co Clare, died yesterday at Cork University Hospital from head injuries he received in a road accident on Monday, when the car in which he was a front seat passenger hit a wall near Claremont Cross, near Clarecastle. A Garda spokesman said the driver of the car had been discharged from hospital.

In Co Derry, a man died when his car hit a tree on the Moneygran Road at Kilrae.
