Former chief justice Mr Justice Ronan Keane has jointed the list of international speakers who are due to address lawyers on the theme of the independence of the legal profession on Monday.

Organised by the Law Society, the speakers include Mark Ellis, executive director of the International Bar Association; Marcella Prunbauer, incoming president of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe; and Bill Robinson, president of the American Bar Association.

They will speak on why the independence of the legal profession must be defended in the public interest. The seminar will be chaired by president of the High Court, Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns.
