Mr Michael Crosby (40), a married man with two children, from Peterswell, near Gort, Co Galway, wasamong a party of four climbers from Galway who had ascended the mountain overlooking Killary Harbour at around 9 p.m. the previous evening. said. The group was descending about two hours later when he slipped and was fatally injured. Mr David Comiskey (40), from Bailieborough, Co Cavan, was fatally injured in a head-on collision between two cars at Haggardstown, near Dundalk, Co Louth, early on Saturday morning. A second person was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to Louth County Hospital.

In Co Galway, Mr Patrick Fahey (53), from Kilcolgan, Co Galway, was killed on Saturday after he was hit by a passing car on the Tuam-Galway road. Mr Kieran Kehoe, from Ballyhogue, Co Wexford, was killed in a collision between a car and a coach, on the N11 at Kyle Cross, Crossbeg, seven miles from Enniscorthy at around 1.15 a.m. on Saturday. A woman was seriously injured and taken to Wexford County Hospital.

A pedestrian, hit by a passing car, at 3.15 p.m. on Friday in Milford, Co Donegal, was fatally injured. Ms Sarah Sweeney, in her mid-60s, was a native of Milford.
