Les Ferdinand said today he has no plans to retire following West Ham's relegation from the Barclaycard Premiership.

The former England striker (36) wants to prolong his playing career and would like to stay on at Upton Park after his current contract expires this summer.

Ferdinand told the club's official website: "I am not going to end like that, there is no way I am going to end my career going out with relegation.

"I said I was going to think it over in the summer but I have made my mind up now to play again next season. It all depends on if they offer me something - I would definitely like to stay, but we will have to wait and see".
