Berlin - East Germany's last hardline communist leader, the man who opened the Berlin Wall, is looking for a part-time job to reduce his time confined in prison, his lawyer said yesterday.
Egon Krenz (62) began serving a 6 1/2-year prison sentence in January after a Berlin court convicted him of manslaughter for his part in the shooting of people trying to flee over the Berlin Wall.
Krenz's lawyer, Mr Robert Unger, said that Krenz was looking for a job so that he could spend periods of each day outside prison doing the work.
