Will UCD sell Merville?

Rumours that UCD is to sell off a part of its campus have been denied by the university, writes Yvonne Healy. Merville House, which sits at the corner of the Stillorgan dual carriageway and Fosters Avenue, is rumoured to be "quietly on the market." A UCD spokesperson says: "The college has received enquiries about the possibility of leasing the building."

The listed building is occupied by the departments of pharmacology and biochemistry. It boasts classic Georgian proportions and is considered unsuitable for its current use. It's understood that the college has plans to relocate the two departments but is prevented from doing so due to a lack of funds.
