Project Maths: Information Meeting in Cork
The Irish Mathematics Teachers Association (Cork branch) is holding an information meeting on the new post-primary syllabuses, introduced into 24 schools last September and to be introduced into all other schools in September 2010. Bill Lynch, Director, National Council of Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) presents "Project Maths, A New Model of Syllabus Revision" in the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork on Thursday, November 13th at 7pm. John Henry Newman Anniversary Lecture
Dr Padraic Conway will deliver a lecture entitled "When Ideas Fail?" tomorrow at 6.30 pm in Newman House, 85-86 St Stephen's Green, to mark the 150th anniversary of the resignation of John Henry Newman as rector of the Catholic University, Dublin. All welcome.
Awards for Adult Learning Projects
Are you aware of an adult learning project you think deserves recognition? You can nominate it for an Aontas Star award for adult learning. Nominated projects can come from adult learning organisations, community and voluntary groups, the private sector, government agencies, statutory bodies and non-government organisations.

Seamus Heaney Lecture Series, The next lecture in the Seamus Heaney Lecture Series at St Patrick's College, Drumcondra is "Multiculturalism and Multilingualism in Irish Schools". Prof Jim Cummins from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, will critically examine international research evidence on effective policies and pedagogies for minority ethnic and minority language students.
