Music Competition : Hopeful, young musicians, poets, singers and composers are invited to enter the RTE Millennium Musician of the Future Festival which incorporates five competitions. The closing date for the Musician of the Future, Singer of the Future and RTE Ensemble Prize is Monday November 1st. Composer of the Future and Poet of the Future closing date is Monday December 6th. Contestants will be screened in December and January and finalists will meet between February 7th and 18th when the the winners will be selected. This will take place in the National Concert Hall and RTE's Radio Centre. UCD Medical School Open Day: UCD Medical School will host an Open Day including hospital visits on December 20th for sixth-year Leaving Certificate students. The event will take place in Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2, and includes a morning session of lectures, questions and answers and an afternoon visit to one of three teaching hospitals associated with UCD. Science Exhibition: An interactive science exhibition will take place on Friday, November 5th, from 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., at the RDS Shelbourne Hall in Dublin. The exhibition, entitled

Science and Enterprize - The Best of Irish Science, will focus on the link between science innovations with new enterprises and business and will include lecture demonstrations such as The Science Behind Special Effects and Colour is Fun. Admission to the exhibition is free but school groups are asked to pre-book. The event is suitable for 10- to 17-year-olds. Mathematics Lecture: A public lecture on the history of Fermat numbers from August 1640 will take place at 8.00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28th, in Room €201, St Patrick's College, Drumcondra, Dublin. The lecture will be delivered by John Cosgrave of the St Patrick's mathematics department.

Choir Radio Show: Choirs of all types - schools, church, semi-professional and amateur - are invited to enter a competition to have their voices heard on radio. Choirs must send a recording of a Christmas carol to the Lyric Breakfast
