The wife of the Democratic Unionist Party leader Rev Ian Paisley took her seat in Britain's House of Lords today.
Eileen Paisley, also vice president of the DUP, will be known as Baroness Paisley of St George's and will sit on the cross benches as an independent.
Lady Paisley's sponsor peers were former Ulster Unionist Party leader Lord Molyneaux of Killead and former Commons Speaker Baroness Boothroyd.
